During times of transition, it can be difficult to sort through information and understand what changes may mean for your child and family.
Here is what we know at this time.
Current Supports Continue
Existing supports and services remain in place. Autism Funding continues through March 31, 2027, and families are able to continue using individualized funding to access services that support their child.
Changes are expected to be phased in over time, with guidance provided to families as details become clearer.
Changes Will Happen Gradually
Large system transitions do not occur overnight. Implementation will take place in stages, allowing time for planning, communication, and adjustment.
Families are not expected to make immediate decisions based solely on initial announcements.
Staying Informed
During periods of change, families often hear information from many different places and perspectives. Taking time to review updates at a pace that feels manageable and relevant to your family can be helpful.
As more details are clarified, families will receive guidance about how changes may apply to their individual situation.
Supports Continue to Be Available
Children and families may currently continue to access services using their individualized funding. Behavioural consultation and intervention, along with other supports chosen by families, remain available under the existing funding structure.
Community-based supports are also expected to continue as part of the broader system, with further details to be provided as implementation progresses.
Focusing on Stability
While details continue to emerge, maintaining stability for children is often the most supportive approach. Consistent routines, familiar supports, and steady relationships help children continue to learn and thrive during uncertain periods.
