What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science that looks at how learning and behavior change over time. In our work, ABA focuses on meaningful, real-life skills such as communication, social interactions, play, emotional regulation, independence, and daily living abilities.
ABA at FCPG is individualized, compassionate, and family-centred. Goals are developed together with caregivers, informed by assessment, and supported through thoughtful, ongoing observation and evaluation. Progress is measured so that strategies can be adjusted as needed to help children learn and thrive across home, school, and community settings.
If you’d like a deeper overview of how ABA looks in practice at FCPG, you can learn more in our Caregiver’s Guide to Choosing an Autism Service Provider.
What is Best Practices?
At FCPG, we put “best practice” into action by providing services that are:

Grounded in research and learning science

Individualized to each child, family, and context

Trauma-informed, strengths-based, and dignity-affirming

Focused on meaningful outcomes that improve quality of life
Our team includes highly trained Behaviour Consultants and Board Certified Behaviour Analysts who receive ongoing supervision, mentorship, and professional development.
We collaborate closely with caregivers and other professionals, recognizing families as essential partners in every stage of support.
How Best Practice Looks in Action
In practical terms, best practice at FCPG includes:
Working with caregivers to identify socially meaningful goals
Using assessment to guide teaching and support plans
Providing structured teaching alongside naturalistic and play-based learning
Supporting generalization across environments and people
Using positive, functional approaches to understanding behaviour
Monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed
Promoting inclusion, peer interaction, and participation in real-world settings
Ensuring services are delivered in a way that is safe, respectful, and supportive
Above all, our work centres on helping children build skills that support confidence, independence, connection, and well-being.
